Account Review Background Check Requirements

Individuals who are applying to become Play! Pokémon Professors and store owners who are applying for a Play! Pokémon Store are required to pass a background check when background checks are required in their country/region.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL APPLICANTS

The background check MUST be completed by the individual who is the owner of the Pokémon Trainer Central account. Failure to follow all instructions may result in a temporary suspension from applying to become a Pokémon Professor or a Play! Pokémon Store Owner.

Before beginning your background check, make sure the information on your Pokémon Trainer Central account is true and accurate, per Pokémon’s Terms of Use. If the information does not match, please contact customer support.

When filling out a background check with First Advantage, all applicants must provide:

  • Complete first, middle, and all last names for verification purposes.
  • Date of birth
  • Address history
  • The Consent/Authorization form. This is a global form used for all applicants; however, you are only providing consent to what is minimally required to complete a background check in your specific country/region. Not all items listed on the consent form will be required for your country/region.

When providing a copy of your ID, please note the following:

  • Your national or government-issued ID must be valid and cannot be expired.
  • Copies of your national or government-issued ID must be clear, legible, and uncut. Copies must include both sides of the ID.
  • The ID will not be accepted if any portion of the copy is cropped or cut off.

After initiating the background check with First Advantage, be aware that they may reach out to you via email regarding additional actions or documentation.

  • First Advantage will reach out through the email address registered to your Pokémon Trainer Central account.
  • We recommend responding to First Advantage as quickly as possible to help avoid delays.
  • Incomplete background checks will not be accepted.
  • Reach out to First Advantage if you need additional assistance completing your background check.
