What is Play! Tools?
Play! Tools is a website that allows Play! Pokémon Leagues to sanction Local Championship events (League Challenges and League Cups) and then report the results to The Pokémon Company International in a safe and secure manner. These types of events must be run in Tournament Operations Manager (TOM) to be uploaded to us for the recording and allocation of Championship Points to the participants. Be sure to check the Play! Tools and TOM guides for more information on this process.
What is an Activity Group?
An Activity Group (AG) is the organization that is running the event. Your default AG can only contain yourself, but a League AG may contain League Leaders in addition to the League Owner. Permission to run a Prerelease or Championship Series tournament is tied to the AG. League AGs are automatically created and attached to the League Owner when a League is approved. League Leaders must be given permission to run tournaments by the League Owner.
Why can’t I see the tournament that I want to run?
If you are unable to select a Premier Event from the Play! Tools page, please ensure that you have selected the correct Activity Group. For League Challenges and League Cups, this will always be a League AG. If you still cannot find the event, check to make sure that your League is eligible to host these events. If you believe a mistake has been made, then please reach out to customer support.
Do I need to upload all my tournaments to Play! Tools?
Tournaments that award Championship Points, also known as Premier Events, must be uploaded to Play! Tools. Friendly Tournaments can also be sanctioned and submitted via Play! Tools as a way of recording your League’s events and their attendance as well as automatically adding your events to the Pokémon Event Locator. Reporting your Friendly Tournaments throughout the year may also contribute towards calculating your League prize support and increasing your allocation of product.
Play! Tools is rejecting my TDF file. What do I do?
If the Play! Tools page will not accept your Tournament Data File (TDF), take note of the error(s) and please reach out to customer support. Do not upload your TDF file when submitting your ticket but do include your Tournament ID number.
What file should I upload?
When your Premier Event tournament is completed, TOM will ask you to save the completed result as a new file. Give this file a descriptive name and note its location. Keep this file safe—it is important to award your competitors Championship Points.
How do I cancel a Tournament in Play! Tools?
To cancel a created tournament, navigate to your created tournaments. On the details tab, there is an option to select Cancel.
