Change Your Display Name for Play! Pokémon Online Leaderboards

Our Terms of Use require you to enter your legal name when creating a Pokémon Trainer Central account. Failure to provide your legal name will lead to the deletion of your account and may result in the loss of your player history as well as any points associated with your account. Please note that failure to comply with the Terms of Use will also affect applications to the Professor Program.

If you wish to display a name other than your legal name on the Play! Pokémon online leaderboards, you may do so by following these instructions to show your screen name. 

  1. Log in to your Pokémon Trainer Central account.
  2. From the left sidebar, navigate to Play! Pokémon Settings.
  3. In the box that shows Play! Pokémon Preferences, change your selection to Screen Name.
  4. Save your updated preferences by selecting Submit.

If you wish to update your screen name, reach out to customer support here. To make any other changes to your account, please log in to your Pokémon Trainer Central account and select Edit Profile.
